Murmuration is an exhibition space in Chicago and residency in Wisconsin, dedicated to supporting emerging artists.

Murmuration is named for the massive gatherings of starling birds that fly in shapeshifting formation, sharing warmth and offering collective protection from predators. The word “murmuration” comes from the low murmur produced by the sounds of thousands of starling wingbeats flying together.

Murmuration is run by Kat Bawden and is located at 2846 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647. The building’s physical entrance is around the corner on Francisco Ave.

During exhibitions, open viewing hours are Saturdays noon - 4pm and can be scheduled by appointment.

The building has a ground-level entrance and the gallery is on the first floor. Please reach out if you have concerns about accessibility.
